From couch to coach…

There are no secret pills or magic bullets. It comes down to consistency, healthy habits, and the right plan.

Our fitness and well-being journey started around the same time, and with the support of each other and our family, we were able to change how we live our lives and take control of our well-being. Together we were heading towards a course that would have led to chronic health problems, and possibly us missing out on a lot of life’s important moments with our three children. We know the struggle is real to try and make healthy choices while trying to balance a family and career, and that is what has driven us to want to help other people that are dealing with those same struggles. We were fortunate to have each other through our journey to well-being. We know how important that support system can be, and we want to extend our support and knowledge to help you develop the healthy habits needed to live an active and fulfilled life. Maureen Porter

RN, BSN, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, Certified Virtual Coach

Through my own journey to health and well-being, I developed a passion for fitness and earned certifications in personal training, nutrition coaching, and virtual coaching. I know firsthand the struggles of trying to lose weight and get in shape. In 2019, after many ups and downs, I reached my goal weight losing 95 lbs. In 2022 I completed my first half marathon something I never thought I could do. I have learned so much through personal experience and my courses with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. One thing that motivates me above all else is my experience working as a registered nurse for the last 20-plus years. Seeing the devastating impact that chronic disease can have motivates me to try and live a healthier lifestyle to prevent this. Most chronic diseases can be prevented, managed, and even reversed with lifestyle modification. I can not wait to share my knowledge and passion with you! I look forward to helping you achieve your health and fitness goals!

Certified 80/20 Endurance Coach

My personal journey of health and well-being led me to my love for endurance sports. I had gotten to a point in my life where I was out of breath when I tied my shoes, and I needed to wear a CPAP machine to sleep through the night due to sleep apnea which was a direct result of how I had been treating myself. One Christmas I decided I wanted to do my first duathlon, and that started the Journey. That year I not only finished the Duathlon, but I lost 85 lbs., completed my first 5k, and finished a second Duathlon. It was not easy. On my first run, I thought I was going to die after running for 30 seconds and walking for 90, but just a few short years later I finished my first Ironman 70.3, and several half marathons.   

It was scary, challenging, and oftentimes intimidating to venture into endurance sports, but my personality led me to dive in headfirst and read and learn everything I could about it. I quickly learned that I wasn’t alone in feeling this way. People are often intimidated about starting a new challenge or knowing what to do to improve for their next race. Running, triathlon, and duathlon can be overly complicated for someone new, but they don’t need to be. I believe in lowering the barrier of entry into these sports and making them as accessible to the beginner or novice athlete as I can. Getting started is often the hardest part of any journey, and having someone guide you through that journey to the next level and beyond is what I look forward to doing.
